WADAIKO KOICHI
Founded in 2008, based in Hachioji, Tokyo.
Wadaiko Koichi started with just 5 members led by Kobayashi Katsuhiko.
Wadaiko Koichi are a Japanese cultural performance group featuring not only exciting Japanese taiko drums but also melodic shinobue flutes, other traditional percussion instruments, and dynamic dance performances.
With a clear, pure sound as our foundation, Wadaiko Koichi bring you the very best of Japanese drums delivering fiercely dynamic and pulsating performances that have earned them a solid reputation.
Performing at over 40 events nationwide annually, including festivals and school performances, Wadaiko Koichi hold numerous awards from competitions and contests.
Wadaiko Koichi also provide instruction in Japanese drumming for high school drumming clubs and elementary school classes, as well as guidance for concerts
In 2011, we launched the largest Japanese drumming school in the Tama region. With two locations—Hachioji and Minami-Osawa—we offer approximately 30 classes ranging from beginner to advanced levels. We are dedicated to promoting Japanese drumming, ensuring people of all ages and genders can easily enjoy it.
In 2025 we opened our dedicated taiko studio – workshop space and venue for intimate performances.
